God Has Gifts in Store for You

As a child I couldn't wait to go to bed on Christmas Eve in preparation for Christmas Day to receive all the gifts my parents had in store for me. I would be so excited! I knew my parents had a lot in store for me because I had already given them a list of everything I wanted. I didn't have to do anything to get it, all I had to do was tell my parents what I wanted and prepare to open my gifts on Christmas Day. I’m here to tell you today that God has gifts for you too! The key to receiving all that God has for you is to simply rest. Simple enough right! The Bible says, “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him (Matthew 7:11).” See our parents weren't at Wal-Mart buying gifts on Christmas Day ...

Its All Good

And we know that God causes everything  to work together for the good of those who love God  and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28 I believe that these last four months in my life have really been a testing of my faith. Puzzling over the different situations in my life I felt God begin to tell me, “It's all working for your good (Romans 8:28).” See Satan's job is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). The Bible says, "Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8)." See I don't believe Satan is prowling around looking just for any old body. Like a predator, Satan is prowling around looking for the best. I believe Satan can literally see your angels working on your behalf. I will even go as far as saying; Satan sees that God is preparing big blessings for you. That's exactly why Satan goes out of his way to bring about distract...

Its Only for Your Good

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way,  consider it an opportunity for great joy.   For you know that when your faith is tested,  your endurance has a chance to grow.   So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed,  you will be perfect and complete,  needing nothing.   James 1: 2-4 Have you ever felt like every time you look around something bad was happening in your life and you couldn’t catch a break to save your life? From the nagging boss to all four of your tires going out you’re bombarded with problems. You think to yourself, “it’s always something.” I believe Joseph in the Bible felt the exact same way. From being sold into slavery by his own brothers, then being falsely accused of raped, to being thrown into prison I’m sure Joseph was over it. But during those times God was with Joseph no matter the problem and no matter where he went. As the story goes on Joseph end...

My Delight Is In Her

"Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married. (Isaiah 62:4).” Reading this scripture I felt overwhelmed with joy over the thought of just how much God loves us. The word Hephzibah in that scripture means "my delight is in her." Put your name in place of her. My delight is in __________! How awesome is it to know that God’s delight (joy or extreme satisfaction) is in you. God takes great joy in you. When he looks at you, He says you bring Him great pleasure. Yes its cool to have material things, it's great to have the boyfriend or the family and friends to affirm us but it's even better to know that God affirms us. Not only that, but the thought of you brings Him so much joy that He thought you were worth Him sending His only Son to die on the cross. The Bible says, “And may you have the power...

Jealous Much?

Have you ever been secretly jealous of someone? You know that look you give or the roll of the eyes as you read someone's post on  Facebook  or Instagram about their accomplishment or achievement. Maybe you're jealous of the coworker who just received a promotion and you feel like you deserved the promotion more. Maybe you're jealous of the person you feel is walking in their God given assignment and you're still sitting at home trying to figure out the next step. I'm sure some of us wouldn't admit if we had a little jealously in our heart toward someone, but its possible. Saul was a King in the Bible who had jealously in his heart. If you're familiar with Saul then you may remember him as the king who was extremely jealous of David. David had God’s favor over his life and Saul was very envious of this. No matter what David did God’s favor was upon him and Saul hated David even more. Saul’s jealousy would cause him to attempt to kill David on several oc...

God Wants to Blow Our Minds

Now the Lord God said, “It is not good (beneficial)  for the man to be alone;  I will make him a helper [one who balances him— a counterpart who is] suitable and complementary for him.” Genesis 2:18    I’ve read the scripture above a few times. I’ve even blogged about this particular scripture before. While reading my devotion this scripture was one referenced and I thought to myself, “I really don’t want to read this again.” However, this time I decided to read it in the amplified version which always helps give me a deeper revelation of the Bible.   “Now the Lord God said, “It is not good (beneficial) for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper [one who balances him—a counterpart who is] suitable and complementary for him.” 19  So the Lord God formed out of the ground every animal of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a li...

What's the Rush?

There is a right time for everything,  and everything on earth will happen at the right time. Ecclesiastes 3:1 During my meditation time a question aroused in my heart. Why do we desire to rush time? We say things like, "I can't wait until I start making more money or I can't wait until it's time for me to get married." We even say things such as "I can't wait until the weekend." Why do we do that? Yes I know its only a figure of speech but some of us really desire to rush time. In a world where we are constantly wanting more, it's easy to become bombarded with the distraction of time. If you think about it, time is how we measure our entire day. From what time we're expected to be at work to the time we get off, we're constantly being pressed by time. While meditating over this, I felt God say, "Stop trying to rush me. I am in control." As I puzzled over God telling me this He begin to remind me that He is God an...

Preparation

I say this because I know the plans that I have for you.  This message is from the Lord.  "I have good plans for you.  I don't plan to hurt you  I plan to give you hope and a good future." Jeremiah 29:11   Do any of you have that one friend who is always late for something? It never fails that you will call them and they will say, “Girl I’m almost there” or “I’m about to get in the car now.” I have a friend just like this and as I wait on her knowing that she hasn’t even stepped foot out the house I may make a few minor changes to myself to prepare for her arrival. I may curl a few pieces in my hair, touch up my makeup, and glance in the minor about twenty more times. Now I know that my friend is on the way because we’ve made plans, but I have to wait on her arrival. So as I wait I continue to get ready. God has plans for your life as well and you’re probably waiting on them to be manifested. But unlike your friend, God is...

Not Even Yours

"The Lord himself will fight for you.  Just stay calm.” Exodus 14:14 A lot of times situations in your life don’t come from you not doing something right or not. Some times a situation in your life doesn’t cause for you to take any action at all. Some situations in your life just cause for you to take your position in Christ and stand still. God is always with you and in the test of trials, disappointments, and setbacks, God wants you to not worry but to trust in Him. In those situations you may become afraid but what do you do from there? In the Bible, Jehoshaphat, King of Judah became afraid when he received word that a great army was going to attack him and his people. The Bible says Jehoshaphat became afraid but he didn’t slumber in his fear. "Jehoshaphat became afraid, and he decided to ask the Lord what to do. He announced a time of fasting for everyone in Judah (2 Chronicles 20:3)." Jehoshaphat knew he didn’t have the man power to win this battle b...

Regular

So the LORD must wait for you to come to him  so he can show you his love and compassion.  For the LORD is a faithful God.  Blessed are those who wait for his help  (Isaiah 30:18) If you know me then you know one of my favorite places to eat lunch is McAlister’s Deli. I am a regular at McAlister’s and every time I visit I get the exact same thing, a bowl of vegetable cheddar soup and a side chef salad with two things of extra balsamic vinaigrette dressing. They usually always put only one thing of dressing in my bag, so I always ask for more dressing. One day I ordered this exact same order and as I always do I looked in the bag to make sure I had enough balsamic vinaigrette dressing and the employee says, “They have already put the extra two things of balsamic vinaigrette dressing in the bag.” I looked up at her and smile while saying “Thank you.” As I walked out I felt God tell me, “That’s exactly how I want to move in your life.”  I tel...

Never Stop Looking to Jesus

We must never stop looking to Jesus.  He is the leader of our faith, and he is the one who makes our faith complete.  He suffered death on a cross.  But he accepted the shame of the cross as if it were nothing  because of the joy he could see waiting for him.  And now he is sitting at the right side of God’s throne.  Hebrews 12:2 In John chapter 5, you read the story of when Jesus healed a lame man. The Bible says, that inside the city near the Sheep Gate was the pool of Bethesda. Crowds of sick people would lie near this pool to get in and receive healing when the water bubbled up. One of the men lying there had been sick for 38 years. John 5:6 says, “When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, He asked him, “Would you like to get well?” The sick man replied, “I can’t sir, for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.” Jesus then told him to stand ...

Ride It Out

But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants everyone to repent." 2 Peter 3:8-9 As a child, you can remember going on family road trips, which consisted of long hours, stuck in a car with occasional stops at resting areas and food joints. During that trip your favorite four words to ask were, “Are we there yet?” You would occasionally doze off into a deep sleep only to awaken and find that you hadn’t reached your destination. As you slept or sat waiting restlessly you probably missed out on all the cool things to view on a road trip. For instance, you probably missed the horses and cows grazing through a field or the beautiful lake you had to bypass in route to your destination. Much like children we as adults have t...
