You've Got Issues Too

And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith
has made you well. Go in peace.
Your suffering is over."
Mark 5:34

We all deal with certain issues in our lives. So we've all been at a point where we said, "If I can just do this or that then all my issues will be solved." I believe this is what the woman with the issue of blood must have thought. In Mark 5 verse 25, we begin to read about a woman who suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding. Here you have a woman who has gone and seen many doctors about this disease but no one could cure her. In fact overtime the disease has gotten worse (Mark 5:26). In times such as these if the doctors could not cure someone of a disease that person would become an outcast. You know the saying "you can't sit with us?" Well this was especially true for the people that had incurable diseases that no one could heal. People with incurable diseases could not dwell in the same places as others due to the fear of others contracting it. This woman pretty much said forget all of that! In a crowd of people the woman came up from behind Jesus and touched the fringe of his robe. The Bible says immediately the bleeding stopped. Even with a crowd of people pressing up against Jesus, he felt a certain kind of touch. He felt the healing power go out from him. When the woman realized that Jesus knew she had touched him she began to tremble and fell to her knees in front of him. She then begin to explain why she had touched him and how she had been immediately healed. In verse 34 Jesus says, "your faith has made you well. Go in peace. your suffering is over."

This story is so dynamic in many ways but mainly because of this woman's faith. I don't know about you but this year I've been working on increasing my faith in God more. This woman has tried everything in order to be healed of this disease. She's paid doctor after doctor to find a cure for her and nothing has worked. But she hears of a man named Jesus. She believed that she had nothing to lose but everything to gain if she would just touch on the fringe of his robe. What has been going on for twelve years was instantly healed in minutes because of her faith. I believe this story teaches us that actions alone are not enough. If actions were enough she would have been cured by all the doctors that she had seen right? Yes, its important to work hard and do the best of your ability in everything you do, but this story shows us that faith is a necessary ingredient when dealing with issues in our lives or receiving the things of God. We know that with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).

I'll tell you right now, you cannot do it alone. You have to have faith and trust that God has your life in the palm of his hands. If you're anything like me I don't want to do it without God. I know that I need him more than anything. I've tried it time and time again to do it on my own but to be honest I've either failed or realized that I didn't do it half as good as God could have done it. What are your issues today? I want you to realize that no matter what's going on in your life God can fix it. Let's take our faith to higher levels in Christ Jesus. Continue to seek Him in all you do and all things will be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). Remember that nothing is too hard for our God (Jeremiah 32:27).

Don't Cash Out on Your Blessing

My favorite pizza spot is Domino's Pizza. So much so, I worked there in high school for about....seven months. That's a pretty long time for a high school student in my opinion. Talking to my friend about life situations, he randomly asked me if I had ever heard the story of the brothers who owned Domino's Pizza. I'll be honest with you and say, "although I worked for Domino's Pizza I never took the time to learn their history." So of course my response to him was a big fat "no." Well, in 1960 two brothers by the name of Tom Monoghan and James purchased DomiNicki, a pizza store in Michigan. After just eight months of taking over the ailing pizza store, James wanted out. He owned 50% of the business and cashed out by trading his half to his brother Tom for a Volkswagon Beetle the brothers had bought as a delivery car. In 1965, Tom renamed the business Domino's Pizza. Two years later, the first Domino's Pizza franchise store opened. B...

Worth the Wait

So I've had braces a little over a year now and if you've had braces before you know the struggle can become real, especially after a visit from getting them tighten. Having your braces adjusted can cause some mild pain and discomfort, since it puts pressure on your teeth. As the teeth are under pressure, bones and tissues are breaking down. The teeth and their supporting structures are then able to begin moving again, continuing the process of slowly moving the teeth into their desired positions. I'm able to tolerate the shifting, discomfort and pain because I know the pressure is for my good. Every now and then I find myself examining my teeth to see if any progress has been made. In some places, I see an enormously amount of change. Other areas, not so much but I know something is happening.  As I examine what I think to be slow progression, I begin to think of the change and seasons in my own life. How much is my life evolving? When will this happen or when wi...

Just Right!

Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him." Genesis 2:18 "You're so pretty, smart, and career oriented but why are you single? What's wrong with you? You must be picky!" As a 24 year old who will be 25 in a couple of weeks, I've been hearing this a lot lately. So much that when I go to my quiet place I ask myself, "is the reason that I'm single because I'm picky?" I was taken to Genesis 2 in my reading time one morning and I read, "Then the LORD God said, It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him (Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭18‬ NLT)." I kept reading this verse because I realized that even in the beginning God desired so much for us! Even down to us not being alone. God is not blind to the fact that man doesn't want to be alone. He even said that it wasn't good. In the second portion of that same scr...
