In my last blog post, I talked about God building a foundation in your life with longevity in mind during the so called dry season in your life. Mediating on this more and more, I begin to do research on dry seasons. I came across a study on the difference between a rainy season and a dry season in a rain forest. Surprisedly, this study showed that trees in the rain forest were worse off in the rainy season. In the rainy season is when many leaves die, but relatively few new ones are produced. But in the dry season it is quite different. In the dry season the trees thrive; far more new leaves are produced than are shed, allowing the tree to benefit from the season’s increased sunlight.
In the dry season they thrive! Seems a little bizarre that the trees would thrive in the dry season. When we as believers talk about going through a dry season, we talk about going through lack, disappointment, and uncertainty. But in the dry season in a rain forest the trees thrive! My God! In my limited thinking, I would think that it is in the rainy season that trees in a rain forest thrive. I would think that when it rains in a rain forest that is when the trees receive the resources needed to flourish. This is when they are receiving their blessing. This is when they're at their best. But it's quite the contrary! The dry season is when they thrive. The dry season is when they're at their best. Let's put it like this, because of God's grace even in the dry season YOU thrive.
Think about it! Although it may be difficult to go through dry seasons or periods in your life, there is something about the dry season that helps you put the pedal to the metal. When you're going through situations in life, you're going through it with a vengeance. In the dry season you push yourself. In the dry season you cling to God like none other. In the dry season you don't quit until you see the finish line. The Word says, "Each time he said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me (2 Corinthians 12:9)." In the dry season God has your full attention. In the dry season God's power works best!
What I'm trying to do here is to get you to see that God is with you even when it seems as though you're in a dry season. He has so much in store for you, but it is your faith that will activate these blessings. “But blessed is the man who trusts me, God, the woman who sticks with God. They’re like trees replanted in Eden, putting down roots near the rivers—Never a worry through the hottest of summers, never dropping a leaf, serene and calm through droughts, bearing fresh fruit every season (Jeremiah 17:7-8). Even in the dry seasons you're unbothered. You're serene and calm even in the dry season because you trust that God has already done everything. You trust that God has already turned things around for you. Begin to make declarations over your life. Say to yourself, "I thrive even in the dry seasons." You serve a God so powerful and all knowing that He thought enough to make sure trees thrive in the dry season. Don't you know that He cares even more about you. Remember you thrive even in the dry seasons. Get that deep down in your spirit today.
