So I’ve been working out quite a bit lately and to be honest
I’m loving it! I’ve never been the type to say I love to exercise. Honestly, in
the past the thought of it made me cringe. However, as I get older and realize
just how important my health is, its important to me that I’m active in some sort of way
everyday. This is the first time in forever that I’ve been consistent and I
hope it continues. I typically upload things on social media and document my
workout but since then, over the last month I’ve started receiving messages
from friends and associates that I'm going too hard in the gym. Comments such as, "you’re
going to drift away. You don’t have anything to work on. Why are you of all people exercising?” If you know me then you know I’m a pretty confident individual
so of course it doesn't bother me because 1. I know that the people who are saying these things don't mean any harm and 2. I know that I’m working on a better me
both spiritually and physically. Plus it doesn’t hurt that a flat stomach will be
the result of this. But seriously, I know that there are areas that I want to
improve in and I want to be around for a long time. So the advice or the
opinions from others don't affect me. Instead, I begin to mediate on it. I asked
God, “what if I wasn’t a confident person? I would probably succumb to their
opinions, right?”
As I thought on the comments from people on me working out
once a day, I begin to compare this scenario to how some people can talk you out
of your purpose if you let them. It can even be people that you know who don't mean any harm. They can look at it as though they are protecting you from something or simply want the best for you. If you’re not confident enough to stand in
what God has called you to do, then people can sway you to stop what you’re
doing because of what they believe for you. I’m literally 4”11 and 128 pounds
or 126 pounds on a good day if I don’t fall victim to Zaxbys' hot honey mustard wings, extra
wet. But naturally some people think, “what is she working out for?” However, those
are the opinions of others and not what I believe for myself. Before the new year
came in I wanted to work on myself. I wanted exercising daily to become a
lifestyle for me and that’s exactly what its become for me because I know whats
at the finish line.
This same confidence that I exude is the same confidence you
should have for yourself when it comes to fulfilling the things of your
purpose. So many times God places vision, gifts, and talents on the inside of
us, but we never fully tap into them because we let what others say or their
opinions affect us. I’ll say it even this way; we let Satan talk us out of our
purpose. “You can’t have your own multi-million dollar company before the age
of 30. You can’t speak restoration over your family. You can’t be who God has
called you to be, you were just out drunk the night before.” These are all some
of the things Satan tries to bombard our minds with, but its far from the truth.
The Word says, “For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ
Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago (Ephesians
2:10).” God had a purpose for you long before you knew what purpose was. What
you do or have done doesn’t change the fact that God has a purpose for you. You
were created for such a time as this (Esther
4:14). I urge everyone who is reading this to stay focus on God and
cultivate the gifts, talents, and vision that He’s given you. Be confident of
what He’s put on the inside of you and stand firm. Don’t waver because of the
opinions of others. Don’t let the enemy trick you out of living a life of
abundance. I promise you, it will all be worth it.
