God Wants to Meet You in Your Dry Place


Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, 
and live righteously, and he 
will give you everything 
you need.
Matthew 6:33

Have you ever felt as though you were in a dry place in your life? Things weren’t bad, but things weren’t as good as you knew they could be. You felt as though you were thirsty for more!

In the Bible, we read of people who felt just like you. They needed to quench a thirst. In those times if you needed a supply of water you went to the well. Webster defines well as an issue of water from the earth :  a pool fed by a spring. The well is a symbolic factor in the Bible. In Biblical times, the well supplied people with water, but it also did more in some cases. Many times the people found refuge, security, and provision at the well. There were times when people found their blessings at the well. In the Bible, the well represented life, prosperity and abundance. The well represented fullness. When the people went to fetch water at the well, they received more than what they initially came for. They received revelation.

I used the significance of the well in the Bible to explain in depth how important it is that you meet God in your everyday lives. When you meet God, you find purpose. There you find the next step of the plan God has for you. There you find all God has in store for you. There you are filled with the knowledge and wisdom to further advance in life. There you find serenity. But it all starts when you meet God. I find peace in knowing that whenever I feel empty God is right there ready to fill me up. God doesn't want us empty. He desires for us to have everything our heart desires. As servants of God, we should know that God can't allow us to remain empty. In order for us to fully live out the plan God has for us and further His Kingdom we must remain full. See, the well never runs dry and because of that we can believe that we always have a supply for the things we need.

 Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). Typically people went to the well empty, but always left full. So rejoice in the emptiness, God is getting ready to fill you up. God wants to fill you up with good things. God doesn't want you empty. God is waiting on you to activate your faith in Him. Just as He met the needs of others while at the well, He also wants to meet you in your dry place. Are you ready to be filled?

Worth the Wait

So I've had braces a little over a year now and if you've had braces before you know the struggle can become real, especially after a visit from getting them tighten. Having your braces adjusted can cause some mild pain and discomfort, since it puts pressure on your teeth. As the teeth are under pressure, bones and tissues are breaking down. The teeth and their supporting structures are then able to begin moving again, continuing the process of slowly moving the teeth into their desired positions. I'm able to tolerate the shifting, discomfort and pain because I know the pressure is for my good. Every now and then I find myself examining my teeth to see if any progress has been made. Just Right!

Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him." Genesis 2:18 "You're so pretty, smart, and career oriented but why are you single? What's wrong with you? You must be picky!" As a 24 year old who will be 25 in a couple of weeks, I've been hearing this a lot lately.
